ACCIONA Ingeniería is partnering with Ineco to lead and supervise roadway and maritime-port construction projects, and carry out administration, auditing and assessment activities.

A consortium comprising Ineco-ACCIONA Ingeniería and the Costa Rica Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) have signed an agreement for the provision of consulting services for the administrative, technical, legal and environmental management of the Transport Infrastructure Programme (PIT) launched by the Costa Rica Government. Its objective is to modernise road and port infrastructures in the country, while improving project administration, auditing and assessment processes.

The PIT is part of the National Transport Plan (PNT) 2011-2035, which aims to improve infrastructures in Costa Rica. It includes conservation projects and a progressive improvement of the strategic road network to facilitate conditions of mobility of people and goods, as well as facilitate trade flows and the country’s economic integration.

The agreement signing event was attended by Carlos Villalta Villegas, Minister of Public Works and Transportation; Luis Baz Valverde, Director, ACCIONA Ingeniería; and Jesus Silva Fernandez, President, Ineco.

This agreement strengthens the presence of ACCIONA Ingeniería in Central America, while consolidating its technical and professional reputation in Costa Rica where it recently implemented several projects, including the pre-investment study of the Chorotega regional market in Guanacaste Region; the paving of the San José-Caldera Road; and a socio-economic study for a new airport in Brunca Region.

ACCIONA has a strong presence in Costa Rica in other sectors. It has a 49.5 MW wind farm in Chiripa, Tilarán (Guanacaste); and built and operates the Los Tajos wastewater treatment plant, the largest in the country, which provides coverage to more than one million people in the metropolitan area of the capital, San Jose.
