ACCIONA has become the only Spanish utility and one of the only two worldwide to achieve the highest rating of CDP in relation to Water Management, which values factors as the responsible use of water, improvement objectives, strategy and the management of the risks and opportunities associated with water. CDP recognized the work of ACCIONA in water management after the Company generated in 2014 a positive water footprint of 532 hm3, equal to the annual consumption of a population of 6.5 million inhabitants.

In addition, ACCIONA has deepened in its supply chain water management through the measurement of the water consumption of all its suppliers, a fact that allowed the Company to become one of the first in the world to carry out this study. In particular, it allowed to ascertain, among other things, the proportion of water use due to direct suppliers in the supply chain and contrast with water-intensive supply activities in water-stressed countries.

ACCIONA recognizes that water is a limited and irreplaceable natural resource and, accordingly, its water management strategy takes account of water availability, quality and ecosystem balance where it operates.

CDP, an international non-profit organization, represents 822 large institutional investors and provides a global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information. ACCIONA has participated voluntarily in the CDP’s water programme.
