The CSR Innolabs platform—laboratories for innovating in corporate social responsibility, created by the IDB with technical assistance by Forética with the participation of companies such as ACCIONA, CEMEX, Pepsico and SABMiller—has published a report which details the results of applying a common methodology to measure and manage the social impact of projects in the region.

The report, 'The keys to evaluating, measuring and managing the social impact on Latin America and the Caribbean', adopts an innovative approach based on combining tools for measuring social footprints and socio-economic impact.

The case presented by ACCIONA in the CSR Innolabs document addressed the application of the Social Impact Management methodology developed by the company and applied to the wind farm project in Chiripa, ACCIONA's first in Costa Rica. That methodology aims to integrate social impact management into all levels of the process of identifying opportunities, bidding and executing projects, with a proactive focus on commitment to the communities where it operates. Through plans like this, the Company materialises its responsibility to the development and welfare of the communities where it operates, by enhancing the positive effects of its projects and minimising any negative effects they may have.

ACCIONA joined the CSR Innolabs project, a network of companies backed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) whose goal is to promote Corporate Social Responsibility in Latin America, in July 2013.
