  • The Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism has included the project in its assistance package for “Strategic Action in the Economy and Digital Society-Technology Drive”
  • The “Virtual Recap” project will develop tools to digitalize exterior and interior spaces

ACCIONA’s “Virtual Recap” project, which involves the development of a set of tools to digitalize interior and exterior spaces, was selected by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism in a 2015 tender for assistance under the “Strategic Action in the Economy and Digital Society-Technology Drive” program, designed to drive innovations with high technological value and provide incentives for the creation of projects with the potential to transform the ICT sector.

“Virtual Recap” technology will improve the monitoring and management of projects thanks to the integration of computer programs and devices that will apply 3D scanning technologies and virtual reality to industrial or business settings, both exterior and interior.

The project, which will have a financeable budget of almost 370,000 euros, will run for two years, during which three lines of work will be developed in parallel: 1) the development of a system to scan interiors; 2) one that will work on a combination of different technologies to develop a system to scan exteriors, and 3) a system that will focus on the creation of a multi-device platform housed in the cloud where all the project models made in the first two years of work can be stored, making them accessible to devices such as Tablets, Smartphones, PCs or virtual reality to exploit the information that a model of the environment can provide.

The project is part of ACCIONA’S overall strategy of using R&D+i as a key element to ensure its competitiveness in the future and to cover the needs detected in the industrial sector for applications that can apply new virtual reality technologies.
