El objetivo de esta iniciativa, vinculada al proyecto fotovoltaico Extremadura I, II y III, es conectar a jóvenes desempleados y empresas del municipio

ACCIONA Energía held the closing event for the "Colabora Almendralejo" program yesterday at the Almendralejo Town Hall (Badajoz). This initiative aims to connect young job seekers with local businesses to boost employability in the region.
The event was attended by José Mª Ramírez, the town’s mayor; Roberto Santesteban, Social Impact Manager at ACCIONA Energía; and Juan José Manzano, co-founder and CEO of AlmaNatura, the entity collaborating in the program's implementation.
This edition of "Colabora Almendralejo" included the participation of 24 young people and 11 local companies, who received free training and guidance in various fields such as sustainability, innovation, and managing socio-environmental challenges.
As part of the program, participants worked on developing solutions to enhance sustainability within businesses, four of which were awarded with financial support to implement their projects. These four selected companies received €1,500 each, while six of the young participants involved in executing the initiatives were awarded scholarships of €700 each.
Among the awarded projects were proposals to promote local craftsmanship, support the digitalization of self-employed individuals and small businesses, and foster financial education among young people.
This second edition of "Colabora Almendralejo" follows the first one, held in 2023, which reached another 25 young people and 11 companies, further increasing its impact on the local business network.
EXTREMADURA I, II, AND III
The "Colabora Almendralejo" program is part of the positive impact generation plan for the Extremadura I, II, and III photovoltaic project, which ACCIONA Energía has built in Almendralejo. With a capacity of 125MWp, the complex generates around 257GWh of clean electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 65,000 households, preventing the emission of over 112,000 tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere annually.
ACCIONA Energía has a strong presence in the Extremadura region. In addition to Extremadura I, II, and III—its largest photovoltaic plant in mainland Spain—the company operates the Miajadas biomass plant (15MW) and the Sierra Brava floating photovoltaic plant (1.125MW). It is also currently constructing the Logrosán biomass plant (50MW).
