ACCIONA Energía and Madrid City Council have inaugurated a new public charging station for electric vehicles in the Madrid district of Vicálvaro.
The facility features 32 charging points, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is designed to serve different types of vehicles, offering five points for light trucks and large vans, 27 for passenger cars — including four adapted for people with reduced mobility — and a dedicated battery-swapping station for removable batteries used in Silence electric vehicles.
Borja Carabante, Delegate for Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility at the Madrid City Council, attended the inauguration.
With an installed capacity of 3,000kW, the station uses 100% certified renewable energy for all charges. In addition, ACCIONA Energía has installed solar panels with a total capacity of 150.42kWp, capable of generating nearly 200,000kWh and preventing more than 54 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. The photovoltaic energy directly supports vehicle charging and ensures the energy self-sufficiency of the associated building, which includes a rest area equipped with vending machines and restrooms.
The facility features a modular design, including a recyclable wooden canopy that provides shade and shelter, as well as 3D-printed urban furniture.
The project includes an expansion phase planned for 2028, which will add 24 new units, bringing the total to 56 public charging points. This will make Vicálvaro home to one of the largest and most versatile charging stations in Madrid, supporting the goals of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the Madrid 360 Strategy.
ACCIONA Energía currently offers access to over 5,000 charging points across Spain, both owned and those operated by third parties, located in urban areas and along major intercity corridors.
