ACCIONA Energía has presented twelve new urban charging points for electric vehicles in Onda (Castellón) today. The presentation event took place at one of the charging points installed in the Víctor Cabedo pavilion's parking lot, and was attended by the mayor of Onda, Carmina Ballester, the councilor for Sustainable Development, Paco Pastor, and the CEO of the charging business unit of ACCIONA Energía, Fernando Moliner.
The charging points were installed at different locations: four of them at the parking lot in Montí Square, four at the parking lot in the 8 de Marzo Square, and two at the Montanejos Avenue. In addition, two fast-charging points have been installed at the parking lot of the Víctor Cabedo Municipal Pavilion.
The mayor of Onda, Carmina Ballester, highlighted during the event that "Onda is the first city to democratize sustainable mobility by providing sufficient electric charging points. With this investment we guarantee that the residents and visitors from Onda who have electric vehicles get the best service".
Fernando Moliner, CEO of the charging business unit of ACCIONA Energía, added: “Projects like this, which promote the deployment of charging points in Spanish municipalities, are essential to achieve a greater penetration of electric vehicles, and are fully aligned with ACCIONA Energías’ goals to generate a positive impact and to accelerate decarbonization.”
During the inauguration event, an electric vehicle charging demonstration was carried out, highlighting the operation and efficiency of these new chargers.
ACCIONA Energía joined the electric vehicle charging market at the end of 2021 with the development, operation, and maintenance of fast and ultra-fast charging points located on the main interurban routes, through its charging business unit. The company diversified its offer of charging points though its alliance with Qwello in September 2022, promoting the development of public charging points in urban centers in Spain.
