The contracts represent overall revenues of 12 million euros.
ACCIONA Agua has been awarded three new contracts in Catalonia. They refer to the renewal of the operation, conservation and maintenance of the sewerage systems of (a) the Montsià area, (b) the Conca de Barberá area (Tarragona), and (c) the wastewater treatment plants of the La Llagosta area and the wastewater pumping stations and network of drains of the River Besos Basin Consortium (CDCRB). The three contracts are expected to yield revenues of around 12 million euros.
The Montsià contract is the third signed by the company with that area, which has been included under the Ebro Delta Biosphere Reserve since 2013. A high proportion of the water treated is then discharged into river beds of high ecological value such as those in the delta. The total flow rate treated per year is 6,431,000 cubic meters (m3), serving an equivalent population of 89,500, and the contract will initially run for three years.
In Conca de Barberá the sewerage systems covered are the five wastewater treatment plants of the municipalities of Montblanc, l’Espluga de Francolí, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Solivella and Senan, plus the associated wastewater pumping stations and drainage network of Vimbodí, Poblet and Las Masías. The total treatment capacity is for a population of 45,000, and the contract is initially for four years.
Among the facilities that make up the service for La Llagosta are the wastewater treatment plant of La Llagosta and four smaller installations (Caldes de Montbuí, Sant Quirze de Safaja, Sant Feliu de Codines and Can Canyameres). The La Llagosta plant will treat an annual flow rate of 12,045,000 m3, which will be returned to the river Besós. The installation is planned to cover a population of 350,000, with a comprehensive treatment system that includes a water line with biological treatment, a sludge line, anaerobic digestion, and cogeneration with turbines. The remaining wastewater treatment plants will process an estimated 2,555,000 cubic meters of wastewater per year. The contract will initially run for one year.
