ACCIONA Agua has been selected as “Best Desalination Company 2015” by Global Water Intelligence (GWI) magazine, a benchmark publication in the sector that confers awards every year. The winners were announced yesterday in a gala held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

The award recognizes the milestones reached in the desalination market over the last year, and particularly the company’s consolidated and speedy implementation in the desalination market in the Middle East.

GWI highlights the company’s “meteoric” track record in the Arabian Gulf since 2012. Last year it opened the extension to the Fujairah desalination plant in the Arab Emirates and won two major turnkey project contracts for plants in Qatar - Ras Abu Fontas A3 and Umm Al Houl -, the first desalination plants with reverse osmosis technology in the country.

The award memorandum also highlighted the company’s mastery of process engineering, its versatility in negotiations with customers and its commitment to R&D+i through the development of in-house solutions to optimize the different desalination processes.

In recent years ACCIONA Agua has received a number of prizes in the Global Intelligence Water Awards, including the “Best Water Company in the World Prize” in 2010 and 2013.
