First 100% electrical waste collection lorry in the capital.

The services business of ACCIONA, as part of a joint venture with Valoriza, OHL and Ascan, collects waste in the districts of Hortaleza, Barajas, San Blas-Canillejas, Ciudad Lineal, Vicalvaro, Moratalaz, Salamanca, Chamartín and Retiro, a total of nine districts in the capital, affecting 1.2 million inhabitants.

This contract includes the first 100% electrical waste collection lorry in the capital.

To optimise such service, ACCIONA will include side-loading lorries that will enable:

  • The templates aimed at new 'door-to-door' collection services of glass and paper-cardboard to be reinforced
  • Extend the frequency of the collection of packaging
  • Extend the frequency of the cleaning of containers and the collection of waste.

Key aspects

As part of its commitment to sustainability and efficiency, for this contract ACCIONA has replaced the entire fleet of vehicles used in previous contracts with a new fleet of 100% electric vehicles and 138 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles that minimize environmental pollution in terms of noise, gases and solid particles emitted into the air.

It also highlights the 17 collection trucks compacting side load that facilitate the work of workers and allow reorganizing new tasks to improve the quality of service without increasing costs.
