This EPC/turnkey project was carried out by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Masdar (Abu Dhabi's renewable energy company).

The EPC consortium of which ACCIONA Industrial is a member will build the world's largest photovoltaic plant: Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (Phase III), with a peak capacity of 1054 MW at project completion. The project will be carried out using the turnkey or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model for a specific client comprised of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Masdar, the contract having been awarded in June 2016.

The new clean energy generation plant will have a surface area of approximately 17.8 km2 and will boast over 3 million photovoltaic panels with trackers (mechanical devices that can orient the panels). Once operational, the facility will prevent atmospheric CO2 emissions in the amount of approximately 1.4 million tonnes per year.

The project will be carried out in three phases and is expected to be finished in the first half of 2020, just in time for Expo 2020 Dubai.
