- First concrete wind energy towers in Chile
ACCIONA is installing the first concrete wind energy towers in Chile in its 183-MW San Gabriel wind farm. A solution that allows us to go higher, reduces transport needs and creates added value at the local level. The installation will mean the creation of more than 500 jobs on average during the construction period. The wind farm will produce emission-free electricity equivalent to the consumption of over 270,000 Chilean homes.
The Waubra Wind Farm is located approximately 35 kilometres north-west of Ballarat in Victoria and has been operating since 2009. During this time, ACCIONA has built strong relationships within the community and is proud of what the project has achieved and the clean energy it will continue to generate for many more years to come.
ACCIONA has installed flexible organic photovoltaic modules in a wind turbine tower in the Breña Wind Farm (Albacete, Spain) to cover the consumption of the turbine’s auxiliary systems. It is a pioneering solution at global level in the field of hybridization between wind and photovoltaic power and will allow the study of the performance of the organic panels -an emerging photovoltaic technology- and their application to improve wind turbine efficiency.
