Almeyda will be completed by the end of 2019 and it will have an annual generation capacity estimated at 167.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh). Located in the municipalities of Chañaral and Diego de Almagro, 17 kilometers from the latter, the Almeyda solar plant will have a peak capacity of 62.1 MWp (54.2 MW rated) and an emission-free power equivalent to the electricity demand of around 80,000 Chilean households.
With a maximum capacity of 186 MWp (150 MW rated) the plants are located in the Benban photovoltaic complex developed by the Egyptian Government. A representation of ACCIONA and SWICORP, headed by their presidents, visited this renewable energy facility, in which around 160 million euros have been invested.
ACCIONA completed the assembly of the ‘Puerto Libertad’ photovoltaic plant in the Sonora Desert (Mexico) in 2018. In the process, the company installed more than one million photovoltaic panels in two months, and on 18 December, it even assembled 42,080 modules. The 405-MWp capacity plant will enter service in the first quarter of 2019 and it will produce around 963 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy a year, equivalent to the electricity demand of 583,000 Mexican households.
