acciona.org is ACCIONA’s social initiative and is made up of nine non-profit organizations operating in Spain, Peru, Mexico, Panama, Chile, the Philippines, South Africa, the Dominican Republic and Brazil. Its mission is to provide, improve and make access to basic services —energy, water and sanitation— more affordable in contexts of human development, humanitarian action and energy poverty where traditional business solutions are not viable.
This work began in 2008, when ACCIONA created its corporate foundation, a Spanish foundation that serves as the reference partner for the rest of the organizations in the network. Initially focused on energy access under the name ACCIONA Microenergía, the initiative was renamed acciona.org in 2018, adopting the claim “The Energy & Water Foundation” to reflect the evolution of its activities, which had expanded to include water and sanitation.
