    NEVADA SOLAR ONE CSP PLANT

    NEVADA SOLAR ONE CSP PLANT

When ACCIONA grid connected the Nevada Solar One (NSO) in the Nevada Desert in 1997 it was the first installed following those in the Mojave Desert in the 1980s, in the middle of the world oil crisis. NSO represented the rebirth of this promising technology. It covers 76 kilometers of parabolic trough collectors, with 182,000 mirrors that concentrate the sun’s rays on to 18,240 reception tubes located in its focal line. These contain a thermal fluid that heats up to 400 degrees C.

    San Roman Wind Farm

    San Roman Wind Farm

In 2016, ACCIONA commissioned the San Roman Wind Farm, a 93-MW project located in Cameron County, Texas. The wind farm supplies enough renewable energy to power over 30,000 homes. It features thirty-one 3MW wind turbines. The project represents the renewal of ACCIONA's investment activity in the United States and raises the company’s wind energy capacity in the US to 721MW, with eight wind farms in six different states.

    PALMAS ALTAS WIND FARM

    PALMAS ALTAS WIND FARM

ACCIONA is currently building the Palmas Altas Wind farm in Texas. The new facility will feature fourty-six AW3150 wind turbines, by Nordex Acciona Windpower, totaling 145 MW of capacity. It represents an investment of around $200 million and will generate clean energy equivalent to the power demand of 43,000 American homes when it enters service in late 2019. It will avoid the emission of over half a million tonnes of CO2 from coal-fired power stations annually.
