Growing in wind power and solar PV

ACCIONA has installed in Chile one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Latin America. With 246 MWp and located in Atacama, El Romero Solar entered service in late 2016. The company also owns an operational wind farm and has a large portfolio of wind and solar projects. In 2014, the National Energy Commission (CNE) awarded the company (following a public tender) the supply of 600 GWh of renewable electricity a year to distribution companies in Central Interconnected System (SIC) for a period of 15 years starting in 2018. In 2016 ACCIONA was awarded 506 GWh of energy supply since 2022. It has also signed long-term power sale agreements (PPA) with important customers such as Google, Falabella and Enami. To meet these commitments, the company plans to expand its renewable generation fleet by some 400 MW by 2020, with new wind and photovoltaic facilities representing a joint investment of some 600 million dollars. The company is currently builing a 183MW-wind farm in La Araucania, a 62MWp-solar plant in Atacama and a 64MW-solar plant in Antofagasta.

ACCIONA has built and donated to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) the first renewable installation connected to the power grid in this paradisiacal world heritage site.

    PUNTA PALMERAS WIND FARM

    PUNTA PALMERAS WIND FARM

Opened by Chilean President Michelle Bachelet in January 2015, it was the first wind farm built by the company in Chile with wind turbines of ACCIONA Windpower technology (today Nordex Group) and capacity to produce clean energy for around 60,000 Chilean homes. It has a capacity of 45 megawatts (MW) and is equipped with fifteen AW116/3000 wind turbines.

    EL ROMERO SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT

    EL ROMERO SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT

ACCIONA has built its biggest photovoltaic plant to date in the Atacama desert; it is also among those plants with the highest capacity in Latin America. With 246 MWp peak capacity thanks to its 776,000 photovoltaic modules, El Romero Solar produces energy equivalent to the consumption of around 240.000 Chilean homes. Up to 80 MW are used cover 100% of Google's data center energy consumption in Chile.

San Gabriel and Tolpan Wind Farms

San Gabriel and Tolpan Wind Farms

Located in the Araucania region, ACCIONA is building the 183-MW San Gabriel Wind Farm and the 84-MW Tolpan Sur Wind Farm. Owned and operated by the company, both will produce enough clean energy to power over 400,000 chilean homes.

    Photovotaic plant in Easter Island

    Photovotaic plant in Easter Island

ACCIONA has donated the first grid-connected photovoltaic solar plant on Easter Island to the territory. It represents the company's contribution to a more sustainable electricity system on this unique enclave.

    Almeyda photovoltaic plant

    Almeyda photovoltaic plant

Located in the Atacama region, this 62-megawatt peak (MWp) plant under construction is expected to be completed by late 2019. It will supply the National Mining Company (ENAMI) with 167.5 GWh of clean power annually. Almeyda is ACCIONA's second large photovoltaic plant in Chile.

    Usya photovoltaic plant

    Usya photovoltaic plant

ACCIONA is currently building its third photovoltaic plant in Chile, located in the Antofagasta region. It is planned to enter service in 2020 with 64 MWp of capacity. It will produce enough clean electricity to power 70,000 Chilean homes.
