    Curtis Biomass Plant

Curtis, the largest forest biomass plant in the Iberian Peninsula and Southern Europe

The Curtis biomass plant is being developed by a consortium formed by ACCIONA and IMASA Ingeniería y Proyectos, both in charge of construction and operation and maintenance for 15 years. This 49.9 MW plant is located in Teixeiro, La Coruña.

Curtis will have an area of 103,000 square metres and the capacity to treat 500,000 tonnes of biomass per year.

It will be a highly efficient plant in terms of generation and with a reduced level of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. It is a dry refrigeration plant so that hardly any water will be consumed and no discharges will occur, thus contributing to the sustainability of forests and also to the prevention of fires. Once in operation, it will increase the generation of energy from renewable sources.

The project awarded by Greenalia has a total investment of approximately 110 million euros and the completion of the construction of the plant is scheduled for the end of 2019.
