Messages from the Management, informative talks, simulations, practical exercise and endless number of activities marked the celebration of World Day of Safety and Health at Work in the company’s centres and premises all over the world.
“Safety, our top priority” was the key message disseminated on video by CEO Rafael Mateo and other senior managers. It was also the philosophy behind the numerous initiatives organised last April 28th under the common umbrella of highlighting the importance of prevention, the ultimate aim being to achieve zero accidents at work.
The assembly room in the company’s offices in Sarriguren hosted a round table on “Integration of Safety and Health”. The participants were Eloy Jáuregui, Safety and Health Manager of ACCIONA Energía and two managers from companies of recognized prestige in the area: Abel Martínez of Graftech and Roberto Villanueva of SCA. A video summary of the round table will be released shortly.
During the day a number of awards were made for good practices among the suppliers of ACCIONA Energía, the winners being Logistic Biotrans (Biomass, Spain), Moncobra (operation of high-voltage installations, Spain), Pueyo Solano (hydropower production, Spain) and Powered EPC (construction sector, India).
The prize for the first International Photography Competition on Safety and Health in ACCIONA Energía was also awarded to company employee Mazhar Khan (India) for the photo shown at the top of this page. It refers to the implementation of the Pre-Job Briefing programme during the construction of the Bannur wind farm. In it, people from different companies and cultures come together in the field to plan the work and ensure that it is carried out safely.
The fact that the different sites of the company could organise specific activities meant a high level of active participation by work teams, leading to a wide range of practical interventions: informative talks, theatrical representations, the presentation of personal experiences, the handing over of gifts, wind turbine evaluation simulations, practical exercises to extinguish fires, a review of lessons learned, blood donations, planting trees, workshops on the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and many other ideas that helped to raise awareness among the workforce and provided information on the importance of safety at work.
A set of photos of the different activities is available here.
With the same aim, CECOER personnel recorded a ‘mannequin challenge’ video, which you can see below.
April 28th was also the date chosen to launch the new section on Safety and Health at Work created on the ACCIONA Energía website, the aim being to improve access by employees and other interested persons to the information, programmes and resources promoted by ACCIONA Energía to improve safety and health in the workplace.
